I moved to New York City in 2002 at a pretty traumatic time in my life. Luckily, I was already drawn to yoga as a way to workout difficult emotions and confusion. As intense as New York is, it also gives many gifts and I was given the opportunity to study and practice yoga at Jivamukti which was, at that time, a thriving and powerful yoga center in the city. My yoga practice really came home there, so to speak. At Jivamukti, yoga came in equal parts philosophical study and physical practice. I was repeatedly told and then reminded again that the only objective of any yoga practice is to prepare the mind and body for meditation. Confident in my teachers (especially Lady Ruth Lauer Manenti), I followed their lead. I started meditating on my own, picking up tools and tips here and there. With my practice having developed on its own, in 2019 I got serious, sought out formal instruction, and found my way to the Three Jewels center. At the end of that year, I graduated from Three Jewels’ 200-hour teacher training program.
Meditation is not hard!! Achieving all that it offers (enlightenment itself!) perhaps is. But, even at the start of the practice, briefly escaping from all the stimulation our everyday world imposes can be heavenly. And then.. then, there is so, so, SO much more. It would be 1000% privilege and joy to share all of it in class.
I am passionate about all kinds of yoga and meditation practices but, I strongly believe in the single-pointed focus style of meditation as the easiest and quickest way to achieving the benefits of a solid practice.
I hold a 200-hour meditation teacher training certificate from Three Jewels in New York.
